This chapter begins with fidelity to covenants; puts again a stress on the matter here, and the main object might be an emphasis on account of the covenant made on GADIR KHOMM, which will be stated in the verse No. 67 of this chapter. Here it is reminded that:-
``Allah took a covenant from the children of Israel and raised from among them twelve chieftains.''
(THE COVENANT IN THE BIBLE
When Jacob's descendants left Egypt and came to the desert of Sinai, they set up their camp at the foot of mount Sinai, and God made a covenant with them some detail of which is in the Bible as follows:-
``The Lord called to Moses from the Mountain and told him to say to the Israelites; you saw what I, the Lord, did to the Egyptains; and how I carried you as an eagle carries her young on her wings, and brought you here to Me. Now if you will obey Me, and keep my covenant, you will be my chosen people. People dedicated to Me alone, and you will serve Me as priests.''
So Moses went down and called the leaders of the people together and told them every thing that the Lords had commanded him. Then all the people answered:- ``We will do every thing that the Lord has said.'' And Moses reported this to the Lord. EXODUS 19:.4-8 (TRANSLATOR'S NOTE))
When
Through this verse, God reveals to our prophet that which He had said to the Jacob's descendants thus:- ``I will be with you on condition that you observe the following commandments:-
1- Perform the prayer.
2- Pay the alms- tax (TITHE).
3- Believe in my Messengers and assist them.
4- And loan Me a good loan. That is to say:- spend for the cause and for the sake of Allah.''
If you do these, I will forgive your sins and admit you to paradise. But those among you, who disbelieve after my covenant, will lose their right path- They move away to a wrong path of misfortune and Hell.
