CAUSE OF THE REVELATION (VERSE NO. 59 - 60)

      IBN - ABBASS has said:- ``A group of the Jews came to our prophet, and asked him to proclaim his tenets of belief. The prophet said:- `I believe in the only one real God that exists namely Allah, and I believe in all that was sent down through ABRAHAM, Moses, and Jesus Christ, and all the other prophets and apostles of God, without any distinction.''

COMMENTS

      Allah instructs his Messenger to ask the Jews:- ``What sort of a fault have you found with us, other than believing in Allah and in that which he has sent down to us, and also in that which was sent before?''

      Through a heavy and emphatic irony, Muslims say:- ``You people of the Book hate us; but why? Merely because we believe in the Lord God Who has created us and also you?! Or because we believe in our Book and your Scripture?! Or you hate us for being obedient to our Lord, and you being rebellious against Him?! Why should you hate us at all; where there are worse things than our faith such that a group of your people (NOT ALL OF YOU) incurrred the curse of God - or those of you who provoked God's wrath or those of you who forsook and abandoned Allah and worshipped idols, evils, and the calf! And a group of you who falsified God's Message and Messenger, became similar to apes and pigs for being lawless, rebellious, filthy and sinful?''
