THE UNLAWFULS FOR THE JEWS (VERSE NO. 146)
In the foregoing verse four things were mentioned to be unlawful. Here some of the things that were unlawful to the jews are named, to show that what the pagans and polytheists have considered as a taboo or unlawful have no room among the commandments brought by Mohammad S.A. or in the Mosaic Law.
And besides, some of the prohibitions for the Israelites have a nature of punishment or as it is in their Biblical Literature they are, `Sin- offering' or `Repayment- Offerings':
``And to the Jews we forbade all the animals with undivided hoofs.''
This sort of prohibition is also stated in the present Bible too, We read that in the LEVITICUS - 11: 3-6
``You may eat all the land animals that have divided hoofs, and that also chew the cud. But you must not eat camels, badgers, and rabbit. They must be considered unclean. They do chew the cud, but have not divided hoofs.
Do not eat pigs. They must be considered unclean. They do have divided hoofs, but do not chew cuds. Do not eat these animals, or even touch their dead bodies.''
Quran, here in this verse, then refers to the fat which had been forbidden to the jews, saying:
``And of the cow and sheep, the fat of them was unlawful to them, except what their backs carry, or their entrials, or that which is mingled with their bones.''
The verse also implies that the prohibition of the fat was some sort of a punishment or a recompense for their rebellion.
This view of recompense is also confirmed in the Bible, where it says that such fat were used in the regulations of Sin- Offering and Repayment- Offerings:
LEVITICUS 7: 22
``The Lord gave Moses the following regulations for people of Israel: No fat of cattle, sheep, or goats, shall be eaten. The fat of an animal that had died a natural death or has been killed by a wild animal must not be eaten, but it may be used for any other purpose.''
And as for the Repayment- offerings we read:
LEVITICUS 7: 1-8
``The following are the regulations for Repayment offerings which are very holy. (important)
The animal for this offering is to be killed on the north side of the alter. All its fat shall be removed and offered on the alter. The fat tail, the fat covering the internal organs- the kidneys and the fat on them, and the best part of the liver - the priest shall burn all the fat on the alter as a Food- offerings, that the meat belongs to the priest who offers the sacrifice.''

(A simple scanning look upon the Quranic verses, and the Biblical quotations, mentioned above, followed by a little comparison between the two methods and styls of saying or writing; will easily show that the difference between the two, is as wide as the difference between God and man, or between the Creator and his creation!
