KNOWLEDGE IS THE AIM OF CREATION
VERSE NO. 12

The last verse of the chapter alludes to the greatness of God's Power in the creation of the heavens and earth; and the aim of creation that possibly might be knowledge and perception:-
``Allah is He who created seven heavens, and of the earth the like of them.''
This is the only verse in Quran that implies; there might be seven earths as well as seven skies.
We have given our veiw in S-1:29 and S-41:12 and elsewhere, about the seven numbers of heavens. As to the seven earths here, it might be a reference to the seven important layers of our globe.
In the ancient, the earth used to be divided into seven continents, but nowadays a different kind of division prevails, such as the north and south the frigid zone, or the Equator and the Torrid Zone.
The figure ``7''in Arabic literature has also a widely used connotation of ``TOO MANY''. Here, it may refer to the many planets, the like of our earth which may exist in the universe and yet undiscovered.
